Jammu 2 Apr........The state congress unit of Jammu and Kashmir received a big jolt after Senior Leader and Ex Minister Sham Lal Sharma left the party and joined BJP days before the first phase of parliamentary elections goes to poll on 11th of April.
Sham Lal Sharma was supposed to join BJP in presence of PM Narendra Modi during Akhnoor rally but got delayed only due to few issues which remained unsorted. Today Sharma joined BJP in presence of national vice president Avinash Rai Khanna amidst hundreds of party leaders and workers at Jammu office.
Despite of umpteen meetings and persuasions congress couldn't stop Sharma from leaving the party the onus of which is being laid on senior party leaders mode particularly Chief G A Mir who alleged dictatorial and distortive policies is breaking the party in shreds.
Many senior party leaders, Ex Ministers and State Office bearers on the condition of anonymity have told the bureau that Mir is allegedly breaking the party and central high command is behaving like a mute spectator. If corrective measures are not taken and Mir is not removed, the day is not far when the congress will be left with no prominent face, Said another senior party leader.
The party workers are dejected and left with none other option to look for alternatives that too at a moment when they have to face many hurdles and iron will to break the momentum of right wing parties. The voices of dissent and rebellion are now galore in the state congress unit.
While talking to another senior party functionary and Ex m Minister, He said that there are senior, dedicated and mass leaders in the party who could command the part more efficiently like G M Saroori, Taj Mohiudin, Haji Rashid and many more.
The name of GM Saroori is being echoed as front runner for the post of State PCC President who has vast experience in organizational functioning and is being considered as a centripetal force.
The refurbishment of state unit and removal of G A Mir are our utmost demands to gear up the morale of party cadre, said a senior party worker.
